Sažetak: This paper will present research on the possibility of energy sustainability of water supply systems using renewable energy sources in a hybrid system as an external energy source, and utilization of available excess pressure in water supply systems through turbine pump operation. Use renewable energy (external and internal energy) in pumping station systems of public watersupply saves on the cost of electricity consumed for pumping. The problem is that the most important external renewable energy such as solar and wind energy cannot be directed toward energy consumption as other controllable sources. Solar and wind energy sources are not constant because wind generators produce energy only when an appropriate wind is blowing, and solar generators can only be used during periods of sunlight. It is necessary to hybridize them with conventional sources through the electric energy grid system or the use of Electric Energy Storage. Reservoirs in water supply systems have technological, energetic and security functions which are very important for the overall sustainability of water supply. The European Green Deal was published at the end of 2019 and represents EU's biggest action to reach climate neutrality. Photovoltaics could play to support the successful implementation of these initiatives, in particular in regard to the increased climate ambition. A massive expansion of the European PV system market requires resilient and sustainable supply chain, supported by research and innovation. New cell and module manufacturing capacities in the EU can be a part of this. Solar energy is a renewable resource available in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, and the weather conditions result in high efficiency of the energy system based on solar energy. The most important advantage of this system over other systems is environmental sustainability.
