Naslov: Ecofeminist approach to Paula Rego’s Dog Women
Godina: 2024
Autori: BARBARA MARTINOVIĆ
Sažetak: This paper aims to deliver an ecofeminist analysis of Paula Rego's series Dog Women. Animals have been a recurring motif in her career, and most are closely associated with fairy tales or mythological contexts. On the contrary, the Dog Women series presents artworks free from other narratives but strongly associated with the dichotomy of animal vs. human or nature vs. culture. This paper presents the main interpretations of Dog Women and connects them to fundamental ecofeminist authors like Donna Haraway, Val Plumwood and Carol J. Adams. By offering an ecofeminist interpretation of these artworks, this paper joins the discussion of the intersection of ecofeminism and art history
