Sažetak: The paper investigates factors that influence the agriculture students’ intention to start their own entrepreneurial activity in the agricultural sector after completing their studies. Understanding the motivation of young professionals is crucial for ensuring the renewal of rural areas and the modernisation of agricultural production. The research applied binary logistic regression to determine the influence of a set of independent variables on the probability of choosing an entrepreneurial career (dependent variable). This model includes the following independent variables: demographic characteristics (gender, age, family farming experience, and the area they come from), students’ academic and farming profile (average grade during studies and previous experience in agriculture), and psychological factors (propensity to risk and loss and the importance of social support). The research was conducted through an online survey among 62 students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology University of Mostar in 2026. The research showed that previous experience in agriculture positively correlates with entrepreneurial intention (p 0.034, Odds Ratio 11.982*), while socio-demographic characteristics and study success provide a deeper insight into the structure of future agricultural leaders. The results obtained are consistent with previous research. They provide a basis for the creation of specific educational and incentive-oriented agricultural policies focused on young agronomists, with the aim of reducing entry barriers into the sector and encouraging innovative entrepreneurship. Despite the strategic importance of agricultural production, attracting young professionals to direct entrepreneurship remains one of the key challenges for rural development.
